Assumed centres of mass: overgrip 80 mm, frame protector 435 mm, wrist strap 0 mm from the butt. Zone limits: under 265 mm control, 265–275 mm even, over 275 mm power.

How the calculator works

Every gram you add to a padel racket changes how it feels, and where you add it matters as much as how much. An overgrip sits near the butt and pulls the balance point towards the handle. A frame protector or lead tape at the top of the head pushes it towards the tip.

The calculator uses a weighted average: each addition’s mass multiplied by its distance from the butt cap, added to the racket’s own weight multiplied by its balance point, then divided by the new total weight. Enter your racket’s specs from the manufacturer or, better, measure them yourself on a kitchen scale and a balance edge.

Reading the result

We group balance into three zones: under 265 mm is head-light (control), 265–275 mm is even, and over 275 mm is head-heavy (power). A shift under 1 mm is usually not noticeable; 3 mm or more changes the character of the racket. If you are still choosing a frame, see our guide to round, teardrop and diamond racket shapes.
